10 Things I Learned During High School
7:03 AM- Don’t take everything so seriously. Make time for your work but make sure to reserve time for yourself.
- Going into high school, I’d bet that at least 90% of your family members told you to join clubs and get involved. I’m here to tell you that they were right. I regret not joining more clubs during my time at Sterling.
- Do yourself a huge favor and ask for help when you need it. Although it may be scary at times, a teacher's job is to help you.
- Stop rushing. The adult world is scary. Take your time and have fun before you have to pick up a job, worry about student loans and what your future will be. Enjoy the here and now, high school isn’t forever.
- Demand what you want from your guidance counselors. If you want to take that honors class, make it happen.
- Stay away from anyone who wants to bring negativity into your life. Surround yourself with positivity, love and support.
- Make relationships with your teachers. There are plenty of good people here at Sterling.
- Find your niche. Whether it be art, TV/Radio, sports or writing. There is a pace for everyone. You will thrive once you find that place.
- Don’t stress yourself out over the small stuff. If you miss one homework assignment, the world will not end.
- Everything comes together over time.
